Saturday in Napa: Hot Air Balloon Ride, Platypus Wine Tour, and Cole's Chop House for Dinner

This was totally worth getting up at 4:30am.
Our first time in a hot air balloon.

We took off from the driving range of a golf course across the road from the Domain Chandon winery.

We took a video in the air wishing Logan a happy birthday, and texted it to him.
Pictures the balloon company took in the air and emailed to us later in the day.
  Can you see our shadow?

We climbed as high as 1800ft.

Coming in for a landing right over top of this field of grapes!

We landed in this ditch on "runway 95" between two fields of grapes. Then the chase crew walked us down to where that other balloon is, and let us out.

Opening the top of the balloon to deflate it.

Other balloons coming in for a landing.
Mimosas and breakfast after our flight at the Domain Chandon winery.
It was too early for our Platypus Wine Tour to pick us up, so we walked into Yountville to stroll through town.

We sampled some Koller Chocolates while we waited.

Our first Winery stop was Dahl Vineyards.
Tasting grapes straight from the vines. So sweet. Almost ready for harvest.

Wine tasting here was our favorite. The owner, Robert, stopped by, grabbed a glass and joined us at the table. I bought a bottle of Chardonnay and Matt bought a bottle of 1989 Port. We also joined the wine club for this vineyard.

Second stop was just down the road at Silenus Vinters.
After the first experience, we weren't as impressed, and didn't buy any wine from here. They also offered wines that I know I've seen in HEB.

The 3rd stop was Ballentine Vineyards. Another one of our favorites, and another wine club!
We really enjoyed this stop along the tour.

A stop along the highway for a photo op:
The last winery was David Fulton.

We were all full of food and wine, and feeling a little silly. Here Matt and the others from the tour were learning cork tricks!
 From this guy:
 We were laughing pretty hard.
I highly recommend Platypus Tours. The driver, Steve, was awesome. They take you to smaller boutique wineries, and you feel like you are part of their family.

After being dropped back at the Inn, we weren't hungry for dinner yet, so we took a power nap! A gorgeous night for walking into downtown. The weather was amazing. We ended up at Cole's Chop House for a delicious steak dinner.

Yummy crab and lobster bisque under that puff pastry!
Dessert was a sinful pecan pie with a side of caramel gelatto.
