San Francisco and Our First Night in Napa

  Breakfast at the Hollywood Diner:
Matt had Dungeness Eggs Benedict and I had a crab and avocado omelet. So delicious.
Beginning our trip down memory lane. Where we met in March 1997.

Site of the old Alcatraz Cafe, where we met over a glass of ice water:

The Alcatraz Cafe is now the Candy Baron.
The inside was very familiar to me.
He was a kid in a candy store!

Drink stop before walking to Ghirardelli Square:
  A beautiful view of Alcatraz:

It smelled so good, and we enjoyed the free milk chocolate caramel samples!
Not hungry enough yet for a bread bowl, we headed out to cross the Golden Gate Bridge.

Last stop before Napa, Fish Restaurant in Saulsalito. We ate the best sandwich ever - a crab roll that was heavenly.
Traffic to Napa was brutal, but we finally made it. Checking in to our bed and breakfast, the Old World Inn:
After freshening up and a wine tasting in the cellar (Castello di Amorosa), we took a stroll to downtown Napa to find some dinner. We ended up at Iron Chef Morimoto's only West Coast restaurant. We sat at the sushi bar and watched them create "art" all night long.

 Matt ate Sea Urchin Carbonara:
I had ishi yaki buri bop - yellowtail cooked at the table in a hot stone bowl:
  And a dessert of doughnuts!
We walked back to the Inn, and crashed into bed. I had a 4:30am wake up call for our hot air balloon ride!
