15 Months on the 5th

I can’t believe my precious little angel is 15 months already!

She is growing up way too fast for me.  And we are quickly leaving baby stage, as she is walking all over the place.  Last week she even started standing up in the middle of the room.  Tonight she blew kisses to daddy before heading upstairs to bed.  Here are some other things about Mattie at 15 months:

She loves to tackle her brothers.

She loves the stairs.  As soon as you take the gate down, she makes a beeline for them.

She learned to climb on the coffee table, all by herself.  (Notice she has my wallet.  That’s a bad sign.)

She loves to look at books.  This one is her recent favorite.  It has a “laugh” button.  She giggles after the kids do.

She’s learning to go down the slide.  Now we just need some warmer days to get out and play in the backyard.

She’s getting to eat like a big kid!  We went on a lunch date with Logan and she got her first taste of ketchup, and learned to dip.

Every day she learns something new.  Every day she makes me laugh (and boy do I need that!).  Whether she’s bobbing up and down when dancing to Wiggle music, clapping for herself because she “did it,” or walking around in Logan’s shoes, she never ceases to amaze me.  I look forward to each day, wondering what she will learn next.  I love my little girl.

We go see Dr. Addy on Tuesday.  I’ll be back then with her stats!

Lovin' The Tot Spot

The "Tot Spot" at the Houston Children's Museum is designed for toddler discovery.
It is awesome! Mattie had an absolute blast checking everything out.
Lots of places to climb.

And places to practice sliding down the stairs.

Different surfaces to crawl over.

And lots of room to practice her walking.

She loves to give the baby in the mirror a kiss:
The ball pit:

Aside from carrying the ball around with her wherever she went, I think the tunnel was her favorite thing!
We love this place, and I hope we can go back soon!

Happy Birthday (Jan 30th) Little E!

Last weekend the kids and I went to Houston. On Saturday, we spent the day celebrating Eric's 12th birthday. We started with lunch at Red Robin.
Then we headed over to the Children's Museum for an afternoon of fun. I only ended up with pictures of Mattie. Eric took hold of Noah and Logan, and off they went. Chey had her camera, of course, and has posted some pictures here. After the museum, it was back to Eric's for presents and a sleepover for the boys! Logan was so excited to be included for his first sleepover, and Noah's third. Aunt Chey, always so creative, had great party favors. Check out the grills on these gangstas!
Little E and Young NC!
Too funny!
We had a great time celebrating with you, Eric. We love you and can't wait to hang out with you in Papa's car, in March!

Project: Organization

It's an ongoing process, but little by little, I'll get there. And I couldn't do it without the help of Grandma and Papa, and their willingness to spoil me and my kids!
I'm addicted to the Cameron storage system from Pottery Barn Kids. It would be ALL over my house if I could afford it. But I can't. So instead, I started small. Thanks Grandma and Papa for pooling some of your Christmas money with me. Mattie and I love it!

Brain Potpourri

I'm standing at the Rec Center, manning the computer cart for the Jazzercise One Day Sale, passing the time on the internet. Might as well blog some randomness.

*Mattie is getting so big. So much better at walking. I can't believe she will be 15 months next week. Her latest obsession is the stairs. The gate is pretty much up permanently. However, when I do take it down, her eyes light up, mouth goes wide open, she drops to the floor and makes a bee-line for the stairs. I've noticed following her up, that she has the cutest little hiney wiggle.

*At dinner last night, Noah asked Logan which team he was rooting for (saints/vikings). Logan says, "I'm cheering for the team that wins."

*Yesterday while walking, Mattie fell forward to her hands, then stood back up in the middle of the room. That's the first time she's done that.

*The new oven/stove is a dream. Almost nothing beats the smell of fresh baked bread. Matt made a 2nd batch of zwieback last night. Mmmmm. Heaven.

*Don't tell anyone that walks by the computer cart right now that I have peanut M&M's stashed underneath. Hey, that's one reason why I Jazzericse.

*My nephew is turning 12 on Saturday. We are going to Houston this weekend to celebrate with him. The boys can't wait. Noah gets to have his 2nd sleepover and Logan is getting to have his 1st! When he found out he would be included, his jaw dropped to the floor. "I'm going to have so much fun."

*We will probably try to go to the Houston Zoo while we are there. Last week Logan was asking his daddy about animals. "Dad, are porcupines real? Are tigers real? Are lions real?" "Don't you remember Logan, we saw them at the zoo?" To which Logan says, "I've never been to the zoo." Poor little man. He was 11 months old the last time we went. It's time to go back.

*Grandma and Grammy are teaming up to take care of the kids in April while Matt and I go to New Orleans. Now all we need is Grandma Ruth to make an appearance so it can be 3 on 3. Last time it was 3 grandmas to 1 Noah. Watch out for naked babies in the backyard! :)

*Noah's getting excited about his 3rd season of flag football. Games will start at the end of March.

*I'm hoping Logan will get to play YMCA soccer this spring. I have a feeling Matt and I will be going in opposite directions on Saturday mornings. It begins.

*Mattie has her first Little Gym class tomorrow morning. I will have pictures to post, for sure. I bet she will have a blast! She can climb to her heart's content.

OK, I think I have successfully emptied my brain....if that is at all possible. I think I have the slow shift, which is fine by me. I think I'll read some Eclipse!

Breaking The Oven In Right

What better way to christen the new oven than to bake!
Matt pulled out his Grandma's recipe for Zwieback.
He spent an afternoon with her over Christmas learning just what to do.

His number 3 helper!
(Noah and Logan would be 1 and 2)

The dough has risen and they are ready to bake.

Golden brown goodness.
SO Yummy!

Video Game Junkies

Quick story. Boys were upstairs playing in there room. Daddy turned on the Wii. One little Wii chime and there was a thundering heard of elephants coming down the stairs. Kinda like Pavlov's dogs.
