Sorry!

A little family game time before bath tonight.
Amazingly, it didn't end in tears.
Somehow Noah and Logan both managed to win at the same time.
Mattie was just excited to be one of the big kids.
"Mom can we do this again tomorrow?"
Sure, kiddo. Love to.

41 Years...

 ...of love
...of blessings (2 pretty terrific kids and 5 awesome grandkids)
...of happiness
...of laughter and good times
...of showing us all how it is done.
Thank you for the awesome way you portray marriage as God intended.
We love you so much.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
Sorry I didn't post this sooner, but I was kinda hoping mom would send me a new picture of you two in the cobra.
But instead, I'll use the same one that's been posted 3 times already!

The Texas Stars beat the Houston Aeros 3-0.
Who knew we would love hockey so much?
Not to mention how close it is...1 minute to get there and 5 minutes to get home!

Big Girl Steps

My baby girl is quickly becoming a big girl, and I'm not sure I'm ready.

Today, she came to me and said, "Mommy, I poopy, let's go change it." She was. We did.

It's starting sporadically, but nap times are quickly becoming play-in-my-bed times. Today was one of those days. She stayed in her bed for about 2 hours, but she never slept.

I did turn on the monitor to watch her for a little while, and to my surprise, I watched her attempt to climb out of the crib 3 times. She never made it all the way out, but it's only a matter of time. Big girl bed, here we come.

Slow down Mattie girl. Mommy's still taking baby steps.

All The Pretty Colors

I think she used every single crayon in the tub.

Totally Missed Out

I realized too late that I had the perfect 365 picture and blog post for today, and I missed it.  This morning, Mattie was adamant about wearing a pretty dress (which is pretty much every morning).  I think the one she wanted was in the hamper.  I must have spread out at least 7 dresses on her bedroom floor for her to choose from.  She said no to every one of them.  And then proceeded to stand in the middle and cry.  That was the picture.  What scares me, is that I'm sure I will have another opportunity down the road to get the picture.  Baby girl, I know how you feel.  I've been there myself.

Reminiscing

1997
March Madness
San Francisco, California
The Lady Raiders played Montana (I had to look it up) and then lost to Stanford in the NCAA tournament.
I met the one.
I love this time of year.
(The Lady Raiders were back at Stanford today, to play St. John's.)

Tonight? We Bowl!

We took the kids to Main Event this afternoon for some end-of-spring-break bowling. It was Mattie's first time to bowl. She wasn't too sure at first, but after watching all of us and having her big brothers cheer her on, she couldn't wait for her turn.
Noah was able to bowl without the ramp this time.
That's the way 7 year-olds roll.

Logan lined up every shot, and pushed with all his might!
 Which one is mine?
Strike a bowling pose.
(Wonder where she gets that from?)
 High fives all around!
Mattie's score is at the bottom. Not bad for her first time out.
We had just enough time for a few more frames. On his very last throw, Noah bowled a STRIKE!!!
We played a few games after bowling. The kids really got into stomping the aliens!

Go My Bowling Ball Go!

We took Mattie bowling for the first time today. She rocked it!
And she struck this pose every time she pushed the ball down the ramp. Hey T, does it remind you of anyone???

Backyard Before

 Resurfacing our football/soccer field!

Tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, squash, and rosemary.

Thursday Outtakes

Lunch at Spicy Pickle
Not wanting me to take her picture.
We went to the nursery to get some plants for the garden. There was a cute puppy named Bo there.
He would lay down and roll over for you to pet him.

Again, don't take my picture mommy:

Here is my purple pedicure with my cute shoes:

Dinner at Z Tejas.
She wanted to take a picture, so we took one of Daddy.
Um. OK. A little scary dad.

Two-fisting chips and queso.

No more pictures, please!

Say Cheese, Mommy!

So I tried all day to take pictures of Mattie and all of the fun things we did. She wasn't having any part of it. In every picture she was looking down, had her hand in front of her face, or was frowning. She did however, take this picture (with a little help from Daddy) when we had lunch at Spicy Pickle.
I also took a picture of my purple pedicure in the adorable flip-flops that Matt picked out for me. But I figured you would rather see my face and not my feet!

Serious Dessert

It's too bad they aren't having any fun at Grammy and Grandpa's.

Sometimes You Just Can't Take The Twirl Out Of The Girl

Even when she's sick.
(Notice that she takes a bow at the end.)

7th Birthday Highlights

Birthday breakfast with dad at IHOP before school.

Getting ready for party time - Texas Stars Style!

Funny story about the cake: I was outside as moms and dads were arriving with boys. They were all playing basketball in the driveway. Suddenly I realized Mattie was nowhere to be seen. I told a mom to hang on a second while I checked inside. I came in the house calling for Mattie. I hear, "What Mommy?" coming from the kitchen. She was sitting in a chair at the table, and had eaten an entire line of yellow M&M's off the cake. "I eat jelly beans, Mommy."

Headed for the hockey game. What were we thinking????
The Chick-fil-A cow was wondering the same thing. He took off running when he saw these wild guys coming!

Celebrating every goal!

The Stars let the Rampage get back into the game, and they went ahead 5-4. The Stars scored a goal with less than a minute to go, to send the game into overtime.
Hooray! Stars win on a power play goal!
