L-O-G-A-N

Logan wrote his name all by himself!
Saturday, November 14, 2009.
For Kate's birthday.
After the first L was "not so good" he started over and did it!
Not bad for a 3 year old who is missing a tooth!
(That's another blog post for another day - and besides, I don't have a picture of it yet.)

Walking With Dinosaurs

I was really hoping that Daddy would make it home in time to take the boys, but work was yucky last week for him. So Mommy loaded up the three kids and headed to the brand new Cedar Park Center, for a Friday night date, to see Walking With Dinosaurs. We didn't have to go far, the center is practically in our backyard. It literally took us 45 seconds to get there. They were really excited, Mattie didn't get scared, and Logan spent the entire show with his fingers in his ears. Noah was a little disappointed that we didn't get to actually "walk" with the dinosaurs.

Stegosaurus:
Brachiosaurus:

The Velociraptors:
They were actually live people!

Triceratops:

Ankylosaurus:

And the boys' personal favorite - Mama T-Rex!

Don't mess with Mama T-Rex when she's protecting her baby!
"The T-Rex was awesome!" and "When can we take Dad to see the Dinosaurs?"
These were the quotes of the night.

And in case you were wondering? Out of the parking lot and home in the garage in 6 minutes. I could get used to that!

So It's Not Even Thanksgiving Yet......

....but we went to see Santa today.
Mattie didn't cry, but Santa's lap wasn't exactly where she wanted to be. Logan made progress, he's at least standing by Santa. And a small victory - Mommy didn't have to be in the picture this year!
Noah and Logan made an extensive list with Daddy this morning. I sure hope Santa didn't take a hit with the economy! There must be $300 worth of video games on the list! The boys are excited about Thanksgiving, putting lights on the house, cutting down our tree, and Christmas in general. It's going to be fun around here over the next 5 weeks. My favorite time of year.

1 Year Pictures

(The tutu was a gift made by Aunt Chey, and the tiaras were the ones we wore on Mattie's "birth" day.)

Matilyn's 1 Year Stats

We went to see Dr. Addy yesterday for our 1 year check-up. Mattie is doing great!

Weight: 21 lbs. (50%)
Height: 30 inches (75-90%)

She says at least 2 words, crawls and pulls up to standing, walks with support, waves bye-bye, plays peek-a-boo and patty cake, and self-feeds. I think there were a few more things, but I can't think of them right now. We were cleared to eat everything (except nut products) and to begin drinking milk. It's a good thing she finally figured the whole sippy cup out. Just in time! Poor thing had to have 4 shots, one being seasonal flu, but I think she cried more from being held down than from the shots. So far she's responding well to that many.

She is still army crawling, but is amazingly fast. She gets to where she wants to go, and then immediately pulls up. She's been cruising the coffee table and couch, and I think as soon as her feet catch up to her belly, she will take off walking! Her babbling has increased and she is saying lots of words: mama, dada, hi, bye, uh (uh-oh), baa, bay (for baby), muh (more), ah duh (all done). She loves her big brothers, and they love her. She has recently discovered BIG splashes in the bathtub. And my favorite thing of all is her big, wide-mouthed kisses! I still cannot believe that I have been blessed with a baby girl, and I am even more amazed at how fast this year has flown by. Mattie, if you want to stay a baby for a few more years, your mommy won't mind one bit. I love this little girl!

Proud Parents of a Star Student

We were invited to attend the Principal's Breakfast at Noah's school yesterday morning. Each month they honor a select number of students based on exemplary effort in one or more of the following areas: exhibiting characteristics of the 10 ethical principles, outstanding academic achievement, or outstanding improvement in academics and/or behavior. Noah was nominated by his teacher, Mrs. Saul. Here is his certificate:
We are so proud of our sweet boy.

Happy 4th Birthday Lauren!

Hope you had a flutter-by day sweet butterfly!
I'm so glad we were able to celebrate with you last weekend!

Farm Day Fun!

Family and Friends gathered on Saturday to celebrate Matilyn's first birthday. Grammy and Grandpa went above and beyond to make the day perfect for my baby girl. It was exactly as I pictured it in my head and more!
There were decorations and photo opportunities galore!

The bounce house was ready for jumping.

The boys battled it out on the football field.

Papa smoked 2 briskets, and we enjoyed a yummy barbecue feast on a beautiful fall day.

Despite this picture, Mattie liked being the center of attention when we sang Happy Birthday. This picture was taken after I took her little cake away, to get a picture of her with her big cake!

See. She LOVES cake!

We were able to get pictures of all of the kids.

And family pictures too. Here are Grandma and Papa with their grandkids:

The Brehm Family.

The Cothern side.

Grammy and Grandpa with their grandkids:

Grandpa had the tractor hooked up for a fun hay ride!

Time for a Mommy/Daughter ride!

Thank you Grammy and Grandpa for a special day! It was perfect and exactly as I imagined! Thank you Grandma and Papa for the yummy food, for bringing the cake, and for all you did to help us celebrate Mattie's day. And thank you to my friends and family for making the trip to Brenham. We are so blessed.
Happy 1st Birthday to my Mattie Girl!

MMMMM.....GOOD!

I found a picture of the cake my mom made me for my first birthday. I decided to attempt to make one for Mattie to dig into today.

Hopefully you can tell that it's a kitty cat.

Here is the picture of me:

Here is my girl:
It's too bad I didn't think to bring the high chair back from my mom's house. She still has it.
The boys couldn't wait to help their baby sister blow out her candle.
First taste of cake......hmmm this stuff is pretty good.
Logan thinks so too. Did ya notice?
Maybe we ought to take the shirt off, just to be safe.
I LOVE CAKE!!!
A very happy birthday girl!

Until Mommy took the cake away:
Cake: Take Two will happen on Saturday when we head to Grammy and Grandpa's house for a fun day on the farm. We will get to celebrate Mattie's first birthday with our family and friends. And in case you were wondering, the cake was yummy. Noah even ate two pieces.

Guess Who's ONE???

Happy Birthday sweet Mattie girl.
Mommy, Daddy, Noah, and Logan love you SO much! We can't believe that a year has already gone by. You are so special to us, and you complete our perfect family! We look forward to another year as you learn, grow, and discover the world!
